Reigning Division 2 indoor and outdoor 5,000 champ Robles runs 15:47.88 to smash 2011 standard held by Shippensburg’s Spence Gracey; Loras’ 9:39.80 faster than John Carroll’s DMR effort at last year’s David Hemery Valentine Invitational

Brianna Robles has already won NCAA Division 2 women’s indoor and outdoor 5,000-meter titles during her Adams State career.

Now, the Grizzlies’ senior has a Division 2 indoor record to add to her remarkable resume.

Robles won her section Friday in 15 minutes, 47.88 seconds at the David Hemery Valentine Invitational at the Track and Tennis Center at Boston University to eclipse the 2011 standard of 16:01.09 established by Shippensburg’s Neely Spence Gracey at The Armory in New York City.

Former Alaska-Anchorage standout Caroline Kurgat has run 15:28.46 on the oversized surface at the 2019 Washington Invitational at the Dempsey Indoor facility in Seattle, but Robles’ performance is the fastest in division history on a 200-meter banked track.

Robles had run 16:00.98 to win the Division 2 indoor title last year on the oversized track at Pittsburg State.

Adams State now boasts the Division 2 indoor and outdoor 5,000 record holders, with Roisin Flanagan clocking 15:28.41 last year at the Mt. SAC Relays in Walnut, Calif.

Natosha Rogers, representing PUMA Elite Running Team, won the elite section Friday in Boston in 14:52.21, followed by teammates Sarah Inglis (14:59.65) and Fiona O’Keeffe (15:01.34).

Brigham Young’s Aubrey Frentheway was the top collegiate competitor, finishing ninth in 15:32.82.

Robles placed 16th overall from all 5,000 sections combined.

Loras achieved the NCAA Division 3 men’s indoor distance medley relay record by clocking 9:39.80 to place second behind Monmouth (9:37.38).

Wyatt Kelly, Ted Kruse, Mike Jasa and Ryan Harvey eclipsed the mark of 9:41.56 produced on the same track at last year’s David Hemery Valentine Invitational by John Carroll’s Ian Pierson, Garrett Clark, Caleb Correia and Alex Phillip.

Harvey, Jasa, Kelly and Carter Oberfoell ran 9:45.33 last year at Grand Valley State for the fastest DMR performance on an oversized track in division history.
